In Like a Lioness with Arts Madness

While March is the month of basketball madness, it's also Women's History Month and the time for celebrating women in the arts as well as the arts in general. Check out a Womensway sponsored event at Falcon Theatre that runs for two more nights, March 7th & 8th, "The Breeze that Bends the Grass," a musical theatre piece with Krista Detor and Amanda Biggs. I went to see it last night.  The music and performances are quite moving. Get your tickets at Falcon Theatre's ticket link.

Macy's ArtsWave Sampler Weekend at Campbell County Public Library

ArtsWave has returned the Sampler Weekend to it's original format of one big art-packed weekend.  On March 7th and 8th, you can experience a little of the arts in your neighborhood, or you can map your way around the Greater Cincinnati Area to experience the many inviting art forms in our wider community, all free of charge. Roberta will lead a 45-minute demo recreational drum circle and discuss steps in the HealthRhythms protocol at the Campbell County Public Library in Newport.  Her session will begin at 12 noon in the library's community room. Drums provided, and no experience necessary. Come on down to pound out some stress.

The library will also host Jim McBride at 11 am and Cincinnati's favorite singer songwriter, Tracy Walker and her band, at 1:15 pm.  It promises to be a groovin' kind of day in the 'Port.

SWAN Day at Women Writing for a Change

Womensway and Women Writing for a Change will co-host SWAN Day activities at the Women Writing's Plainfield Road location in Silverton on March 28 from 1-6 pm.

Women writers, musicians, artists, and comedians will share their works in performances and at their booths.  Troubadours of Divine Bliss and Raison D'Etre will each play a set. Roberta will have her new chapbook with her for anyone who wants to buy a copy or get their already purchased copy signed. A $15 donation is suggested for the afternoon of supporting women in the arts.

The Trio Returns!

As excited as Violet Rae and Roberta were to collaborate as a duo with Falcon Theatre for another fine Signature Series project, it sure will be good to harmonize in three parts again at the end of March.  Our SWAN Day set marks the return of our trio configuration for the first time this year.  We sure hope to see some familiar faces at our first performance together in 2015.  It's our 25th year together, so we hope to have an event to commemorate our Silver Anniversary this summer. Stay tuned.

Check out our calendar page for what's coming up this spring. You remember spring, right? The ground is green instead of white.

Raise on!

And don't defer those dreams that bend the grass.
